The The FBI issued a search and arrest warrant on Monday. against the Spanish Alejandro Cao de Benospresident of the ‘Korea Friendship Association’ for “conspiring” in favor of Kim Jong Un’s government and helping North Korea to evade some sanctions imposed by the United States, According to a note issued by the FBI.
“Alejandro Cao de Benós is wanted for allegedly conspiring to violate the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). Specifically, he conspired to violate the sanctions imposed by the United States against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK or North Korea) to collaborating with a US citizen to illicitly provide cryptocurrency-related services to the DPRK”specifies the note.
According to US intelligence services, at the beginning of 2018 Cao de Benós organized a conference in collaboration with “an American citizen” in which he would have maneuvered to “illegally provide blockchain technology and cryptocurrency services” to North Korea.
