The authorities of the self-proclaimed People’s Republic of Donetsk, in eastern Ukraine, have ordered this Thursday the creation of a local administration in the city of Mariúpollocated in the southeast of the country and under siege by Russian forces for weeks as part of the invasion that began on February 24 by order of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The decree, signed by the leader of the Donetsk Republic, Denis Pushilin, includes an order to “create a local administration of the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Mariupol City Administration” and approve the necessary regulations to regulate this structure, according to the Russian news agency TASS. Likewise, it contemplates the creation of an administrative architecture for the city and the appointment of its members, a series of measures that must be coordinated directly with Pushilin’s office, who has also added that the decree enters into force immediately.
