50 years since Nixon's visit to China

Today marks the 50th anniversary of then-US President Richard Nixon’s visit to China. A visit to his Chinese counterpart, Mao Tse Tung, in which the two shook hands after decades of antagonism, began the thaw and marked a fundamental milestone in international relations.
